The six-week Summer Program is designed to give participants a college-like experience. Students take Composition & Literature, Math, Laboratory Science, Spanish, Careers and Service Learning. All instruction is individualized as much as possible to provide optimum assistance for personalized development. Field trips and other planned activities provide additional enrichment. Mentoring and other intensive Science and Math opportunities are provided locally and regionally.
Services During the Summer component include:
Academic courses for high school credit, educational field trips, one week residential living experience on campus, and weekly stipends for satisfactory program participation.
The program differs from the regular school year as students enjoy a full day program with four classes in the morning and two classes in the afternoon. Students also attend a Work Study program in the afternoon where they can learn from professionals, as well as earn money.
During the last week of the summer program, eligible students take an annual Study Trip to gain cultural experiences. In the past, students have traveled to Puerto Rico, Ohio, Canada, Alabama, Georgia, and Illinois.
